According to the DNR, Eleventh Crow Wing Lake has a surface area of 751 acres and a maximum depth of 80 feet. Eleventh Crow Wing Lake is also a very deep lake; a large percentage of the lake is more than 15 feet deep.

Eleventh Crow Wing Lake is near Akeley MN; this area is considered the headwaters of the Crow Wing Chain of Lakes. Connected by the Crow Wing River, which flows southeast for 90 miles before it connects to the Mississippi River, the Eleventh Crow Wing Lake is an ideal location.

Exploring the Heartland Trail

One of the first rail-to-trail projects in the entire country is located in the Leech Lake area! The Heartland Trail is a 49-mile paved multi-use trail. The Leech Lake area and Eleventh Crow Wing Lake area have easy access to the paved Heartland Trail. In the summer, the trail is used primarily for cycling and walking. However, along a 30-mile portion of the Heartland Trail, there is a secondary trail that is used for horseback riding, mountain biking, and hiking. Akeley City Campground

The Akeley City Campground is located on the shores of Eleventh Crow Wing Lake. This well-run, popular campground is convenient to so many things in the area AND it has lakeside campsites.

Fishing

It’s not very often the DNR states that a lake has an abundance of Walleyes, but that’s what they say about Eleventh Crow Wing Lake! Yellow Perch and Northern Pike are also in abundance. Of course, there are also Black Crappies and Sunfish present.

Golfing

Eleventh Crow Wing Lake and Akeley MN are near very nice 18-hole public golf courses. There is also a 9-hole golf courses in the area; the following are 18-hole public golf courses in the area! LongBow Golf Club, Walker MN; Tianna Country Club, Walker MN; Eagles View Golf Course, Park Rapids MN; Headwaters Golf Club, Park Rapids MN

Canoeing and Kayaking

The Crow Wing River State Water Trail is known as one of Minnesota’s best “wilderness” routes for canoeists and kayakers. Because the River is rarely more than 3 feet deep and rarely has rapids, it is known as a great River for family canoe trips. The DNR, which has valuable information about so many topics, has valuable information about the Crow Wing River State Water Trail: campsites, rest areas, fishing, boating, and more.
